Construction of Norton Healthcare Hospital, a new hospital in west Louisville is taking shape beam by beam. Norton Healthcare Hospital is set to become the city’s first new hospital in over a century. The first beam was installed on July 10, and the installation of the first beam marked a significant milestone in the construction process. As the inaugural 500 steel beams, each weighing a colossal 600 tons, take their place, the hospital’s impressive structure is beginning to take shape. These beams will define the structure of the hospital.

Exterior walls of the new hospital in west Louisville are scheduled to rise in mid-to-late October, followed by the installation of the roof. Skilled workers equipped with heavy machinery are bringing it closer to its visionary design. Russell Cox, President, and CEO of Norton Healthcare, shared his excitement, stating, “It is inspiring to witness the first visible elements of the hospital structure coming together.”

Grand Opening Date for West Louisville’s New Hospital

The grand opening of the new hospital in west Louisville, Norton Healthcare Hospital,  is anticipated towards the end of 2024, promising a new era of accessible and advanced healthcare for Louisville. As its commitment to community involvement, Norton invites the public to a beam signing event at the Shawnee Boys and Girls Club on Saturday, July 29, at noon. The autographed beams will be proudly displayed throughout the hospital, symbolizing a collaborative spirit.

The new hospital in west Louisville is poised to be a comprehensive healthcare haven. Offering a 24-hour emergency department, cutting-edge operating rooms, and 20 state-of-the-art inpatient beds. But its scope extends far beyond the conventional as it embraces a wide range of services to cater to diverse medical needs. Also, patients will have access to primary care physicians, outpatient and specialist services, a retail pharmacy, and advanced imaging capabilities such as X-ray, CT, and MRI. The hospital’s commitment to holistic care extends to specialized offerings like adult and pediatric care, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology, orthopedics, diabetic treatment, and behavioral health services.

With the addition of the Norton Healthcare Hospital and the Goodwill Opportunity Campus, this visionary $100 million investment at South 28th Street and West Broadway is poised to serve an estimated 50,000 people annually.
