Sports enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the opening of the Knoxville multiuse stadium, a $114-million project scheduled to be completed in a few years. In the meantime, developers have thoughtfully set up live cameras on-site used for exploring the Construction of Knoxville Stadium Through Live Cameras
On June 13, 2023, a significant event took place to commemorate the commencement of construction for a 7000-seat sports and entertainment complex close to the Old City. This project will bring minor league baseball back to Knoxville in 2025, after an absence of over 20 years. Additionally, the venue will host various other events such as soccer matches, festivals, and concerts.
Denark Construction, the primary construction manager for the Knoxville stadium project, has implemented a solar-powered camera system that allows the general public to monitor the progress of the construction. This camera system is accessible through grandslamknox.com.
These cameras provide various perspectives of the construction site, with some capturing images as frequently as every 15 minutes. Additionally, users have the option to browse through archived images dating back to July 2022 and even watch a time-lapse video showcasing the site’s transformation.
The return of professional baseball to Knoxville is under rigorous scrutiny and community discussions. A newly formed sports authority has been tasked with conducting an in-depth study of a proposed public sports and entertainment stadium and will fund, build and manage the stadium if the proposal is accepted.
“In this investment, the public benefits must outweigh the public costs,” said Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon. “An independent analysis has been carried out by a very experienced sporting authority which shows that this is the case.”
“This stadium public-private partnership has the potential to unite Downtown, Old Town and East Knoxville while also repurposing a largely vacant area and creating new jobs and economic opportunity.”
