Holocaust Museum for Hope & Humanity leader wants to build museum in Orlando with $25M funding from state.
Democratic Senator Linda Stewart and Republican Representative David Smith both, from Central Florida are spearheading this bipartisan initiative. They have submitted budget proposals, for the museum’s construction expenses amounting to $25 million. This information was shared by Jeffrey Sharkey from Capitol Alliance Group.
Expected start of construction on Orlando’s new Holocaust Museum
Construction of the museum is set to begin this year. A joint effort, between lawmakers from parties along with contributions, from donors has the potential to secure $40 million for the Holocaust Museum for Hope & Humanity.
With that backdrop, the head of the Holocaust museum in Central Florida stated that it is more relevant than ever to proceed with an initiative to relocate and construct a $106 million campus in downtown Orlando. To support the funding, for this project the museum has requested $25 million from the state during this session.
“We aim to tackle and combat the growing occurrence of antisemitism and hatred, within our community. In our view these issues largely stem from a lack of awareness, knowledge and education ” stated Talli Dippold, the CEO of the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center, which is currently situated in Maitland, a suburb of Orlando.
Opening of the Holocaust Museum for Hope & Humanity in Orlando
The museum has already accumulated a total of $31 million, which includes $10 million from the county’s hotel tax revenue. With this funding the Holocaust Museum in Orlando commence construction this year ensuring that the museum is ready, for its opening, in 2026. Additionally, philanthropist Alan Ginsburg is assisting the museum with private donations.

The design of the museums exterior will incorporate elements that honor the strength and resilience of individuals who have triumphed over challenges through their heritage. Located on the outskirts of downtown Orlando close, to Lake Ivanhoe, the proposed Holocaust Museum for Hope & Humanity is set to be Florida’s Holocaust museum, covering a 44,500 square feet. With cutting edge technology like reality it aims to provide visitors with an experience that connects them deeply with the impactful stories of the Holocaust. This extraordinary museum stands as a testament to Orlando’s nature attracting visitors from, around the world who are captivated by its cultural significance and historical narratives.
“It will truly be one of the museums constructed with a focus, on the experiences of individuals who lived through the Holocaust. We aim to create a museum that resonates with generations ” explained Dippold.
Moving the museum, from Maitland to Orlando will increase its visibility as a tourist spot. Another advantage is that the Brightline train now connects Orlando to South Florida, which’s home, to a Jewish community.
The primary objective of the Holocaust Museum, for Hope & Humanity is to provide visitors with an educational, inspiring and empowering experience. Located in downtown Orlando the museum will serve as a testament, to the stories and experiences of survivors. Its purpose is to pay tribute to those we tragically lost lives and encourage reflection on the enduring impact of their stories. By doing this it serves as a reminder of our ongoing responsibility to combat antisemitism and prejudice in todays world.
The Holocaust Memorial Resource & Education Center of Florida has collaborated with Luci Creative to develop a captivating exhibit spanning across 13,000 feet of space at the location.
