 Middleburg Communities, a real estate company, Yesterday announced the completion of a land acquisition in Wilmington, Middleburg plans to develop a build to rent community named Hamlet Barclay West on this site. The 30 acre parcel of land is situated at the intersection of S 17th Street and Independence Boulevard. Hamlet Barclay West will consist of 280 units, including cottages, duplexes and townhomes. This neighborhood will be located opposite The Pointe at Barclay, which is known as Midtown Wilmington’s notch dining and entertainment destination. Construction for Hamlet Barclay West is scheduled to begin in January 2024.

“Wilmington has experienced growth in years leading to a high demand for top notch build to rent neighborhoods such as Hamlet Barclay West” said Alexi Papapieris, Senior Vice President of Development for Middleburg’s Carolinas Region. “We’re thrilled to begin construction on this project and provide a housing option that caters to the market’s needs and offers a lifestyle, for both individuals and families.”

Hamlet Barclay West is conveniently located within a 20 minute drive of all the things Wilmington has to offer, such as Historic Downtown Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, the University of North Carolina Wilmington and major employers. The community is designed with a neighborhood feel featuring tree lined streets, small parks and shared green spaces. Each unit offers layouts, with entrances and backyards.
