Recently, NRP Group and RPW Group hosted the grand opening of a 303-unit apartment community dubbed The Halden in New York. Mayor Tom Roach was also present at the event to celebrate the completion of the new community. The Mayor welcomed the new Halden residential community which now sits adjacent to IBM’s former world headquarters office building.
The location of the Halden community is within a 70-acre site at 1133 Westchester Avenue. NRP Group, RPW Group and the City of White Plains partnered to build the project. RPW also owns and runs the neighboring office building on the property. Besides building the new apartment community, RPW also helped to transform the site into a mixed-use, walkable, transit-oriented neighborhood destination.

Featured amenities at The Halden community
The Halden is an apartment community spread across three, five-story buildings. However, the most significant feature of this development is the photovoltaic solar panel installation on its rooftop. Especially since, the solar panels generate over 500,000 kWh of clean electricity. The power generated wil also be available for residents to purchase at a discounted rate.
Mayor Roach was particularly excited about the inclusion of solar panels designed in The Halden community to generate clean energy. He pointed out that this aspect of project directly aligns with the City of White Plains sustainability values. Futhermore, the Mayor also described the community as a live-work-play development for residents seeking a desirable, dynamic, diverse, and sustainable city.
The Halden community offers a combination of one , two and three-bedroom units furnished with quartz countertops, and luxury plank flooring. Additionally, each apartment unit has backlit bathroom mirrors, sleek pendant lighting, stainless steel appliances, and stacked tile showers. Residents will enjoy access to shared amenities such as a club-style gym, pool, bike storage room, children’s playroom and package concierge. Telecommuting spaces are also available on the property, including a courtyard with grilling stations for dining and relaxing.
Residents at The Halden community will also enjoy easy commutes. Especially since its location is off of I-287 and Hutchinson River Parkway. Residents will be able to conveniently drive to work around the region. Additionally, an on-site shuttle service will be available to take them to the White Plains train station. A commuter rail stop will be on the Metro-North Railroad’s Harlem Line as well, linking them to the Grand Central Terminal.
