The project is expected to create thousands of local jobs. It will also boost nearby businesses by bringing a steady flow of new customers to the area.
Updated – Brightline West is making steady progress toward building its highly anticipated high-speed rail line linking Las Vegas with Southern California. The privately owned intercity rail company has completed crucial field testing along the proposed route, collecting essential data to finalize station locations, track design, and necessary support infrastructure. With this phase finished, Brightline West is moving into its final pre-construction stage and is on schedule to begin full-scale construction soon. Once operational, the 200-mph train will cut travel time between Las Vegas and Southern California to just two hours, providing a faster, greener alternative to driving or flying.
At the same time, Brightline is advancing its expansion efforts in Florida. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to extend its network to Tampa Bay with a new line connecting Tampa and Orlando in just one hour. To help finance this project, Brightline has requested that the Florida Finance Development Corporation (FDFC) issue $400 million in bonds. The FDFC raises money through fees on bond issuances rather than taxpayer dollars, and no direct state funding is currently allocated for the expansion.

Scope
Brightline West’s current plan anticipates the implementation of more than 35,000 construction jobs and approximately one thousand permanent positions. Apart from the economic factors, this project shows potential for environmental consideration. This initiative will eliminate the need for 3 million cars to travel toward Las Vegas. According to Brightline, the 218-mile rail line would connect passengers between Las Vegas and Rancho Cucamonga in about two hours. Accessible via the Metrolink from Rancho Cucamonga, one can continue onto downtown Los Angeles and it would take about 40 minutes.

Brightline is the only privately managed intercity passenger railroad in America. In March of 2012 All Aboard Florida was first conceived by Florida East Coast Industries, which is a land development company based in the state of Florida that belongs to Fortress Investment Group. Construction started in November14 and the route opened for revenue service in January 2018, first between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach; then Miami to Fort Lauderdale segment began revenue service may of that year. Completion date

Construction in California will take place at several locations. The estimated cost of the entire project between San Francisco and Los Angeles ranges from $88 billion to $127.56 billion.
Officials are considering other locations for high-speed trains, including a proposed 240-mile route from Dallas to Houston in Texas. In this distribution, the government allocated $22 billion to Amtrak and $36 billion to competitive grants.
