Updated 15th September 2025 – Sun Streams 4, commissioned in mid-2025, is Longroad Energy’s first project with financing exceeding $1 billion. Located in Maricopa County, Arizona, the facility combines 377 MWdc of solar generation with 300 MWac/1,200 MWh of battery storage. Under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement, Arizona Public Service will buy the entire output, which is sufficient to supply electricity to roughly 120,000 average U.S. homes. On 1th September 2025 Longroad begun construction on the 400MW 1000 Mile Solar Project in Yoakum, Texas that is expected to be completed in 2026

Reported November3 2023 – Longroad Energy, a renewable energy developer, owner, and operator located in the United States, has secured finance and begun construction on Sun Streams 4, a 377 MW DC solar and 1,200 MWh storage project.

Sun Streams 4 is Longroad’s largest solar and storage project to date, and it is the third project in the company’s Sun Streams complex in Maricopa County, Arizona. Sun Streams 4 is planned to begin commercial operations in mid-2025.

Sun Streams 4 is planned to employ around 200 workers throughout the building phase. McCarthy Building Companies was chosen to handle the engineering, procurement, and construction.

The complete production of Sun Stream 4 will be acquired by Arizona Public Service (APS) under a long-term PPA. The project will assist Arizona’s system dependability, especially during peak demand summer months.

The project’s trackers are supplied by Nextracker, while the solar inverters are supplied by Sungrow. NovaSource Power Services and Longroad’s subsidiary Longroad Energy Services will offer comprehensive project operations and maintenance services.

Powin, a U.S.-based energy storage platform supplier, will deliver the battery energy storage technology for Sun Stream 4. SMA inverters and AESC cells will be used in the system, which will be incorporated into Powin’s Modular and Scalable Centipede latform. Additionally, longroad will provide long-term operations and maintenance services in collaboration with Powin and NovaSource Power Services.

“A landmark project for us, Sun Streams 4 has the distinction of being Longroad’s largest project to date by both megawatts and investment capital, and one of our first projects to incorporate provisions from the historic Inflation Reduction Act,” says Paul Gaynor, president and chief executive officer of Longroad Energy

The project is part of Longroad’s Sun Streams portfolio, which it bought from First Solar in early 2021.
