Mace is set to act as project and design manager for the development of 2.7bn Dubai Exhibition Center expansion. The global consulting and construction firm in London has proven more than capable for the task. Mace has been appointed by the Dubai world trade center to deliver an expansion at the Emirates Expo City.

This is the first phase of the Dubai Exhibition Centre expansion project. This will involve increasing exhibition space from 58,000 sq. m to 140,000 sq. m. It will also include an 180000 sq. m increase of floor space. The project is estimated to be completed by 2026. However the project has two further phases that are to be completed by 2031. Upon completion, the Dubai exhibition Centre one of the worldโ€™s largest indoor events and exhibition venues.

The $2.7bn Dubai exhibition center expansion is part of a plan to increase the number of large-scale events held in Dubai from 300 a year to 600 by 2033.โ€ We are committed to developing Dubaiโ€™s exhibition and events furtherโ€ Dubai World Trade Centreโ€™s assistant vice president of real estate Amer Al Farsi said. Additionally, the project is estimated to triple its annual economic contribution to 11bn. Mace Consult’s UAE Country Director, Stephen Venney, stated: “We are thrilled to have been chosen by DWTC to oversee the first phase of the Dubai Exhibition Centre’s expansion and to be a vital part of fostering the continued growth of the DEC and Dubai’s events and exhibitions sector.”

According to a report by GlobalData, the output of the construction industry in the UAE is expected to expand by 4.6% in real terms in 2024. Furthermore, this will be supported by improved investments in transport, industrial and residential construction projects. The industryโ€™s growth in 2024 will also be supported by private-sector investments in the real estate sector. Moreover, GlobalData expects the commercial construction sector to expand by 5.6% in real terms in 2024. This is before it starts registering an annual average growth rate of 5.6% in 2025-28. It will be supported by a recovery in tourism activities, combined with improved investments in the hospitality sector.
