The government of Morocco has partnered with the American tech firm, Iozera, and recently made an announcement of a key project that is expected to revolutionize the artificial intelligence sector in the country. The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding for constructing a cutting edge Morocco 386MW Data Center and AI hub that will be located in Tetouan, Morocco as revealed by Iozera.

As Iozera claims, it sits as the frontier between the modern advanced technology and day to day business, therefore giving way to the promising future of data management, productivity of AI, and even the advanced storage solutions.

Moreover, the main objective of this crucial alliance is to make an increase in accessing the GPU-based scholars, entrepreneurs, and even companies all over the world as well as in both Morocco and the United States of America. This initiative is expected to spearhead innovation and advance the AI sector in Morocco by enabling easier accessibility of these critical resources in the sector.

This upcoming project is in line with the aggressive and ambitious targets of Morocco for the renewable energy sector and clearly reveals the commitment of the North African country to a sustainable future.

Cost of the Morocco 386MW Data Center and AI Hub Project

The $500 million project will operate with renewable energies thanks to Morocco’s leadership in the energy sector.“This crucial partnership between the two sides is designed in such a way that it will bring democracy to the access of advanced artificial intelligence computing resources, therefore making an improvement in the availability of the GPU-based processing Graphics Processing Unit for researchers, startups and even enterprise in the US, Morocco and all over the world,” Lozera reveals.

Signing Date of the MOU

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony will be held on the 8th of May 2024, United States, Texas. The ceremony is expected to attract the attention of notable individuals from the worldwide IT community as well as Morocco itself. The top officials inclusive of Mohcine Jazouli, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Reform, and also Dr.Ghta Mezzour, the Minister in charge of Digital Transition nd Administration, will be attending the ceremony. There will also be the attendance of representatives from the Pegatron Taiwan ans even the Moroccan government.

Significance of the Project to Morocco

It will also include units focusing on AI training, data management, labeling, and annotating, creating employment opportunities while also pioneering secure AI training/modeling in addition to an education & incubation center for startups and local Moroccan employment.

 

It has also been earlier reported that BNI Madagascar, which is a banking and financial services institution based in Antananarivo, has made a partnership with and assigned Orion Innovation the task of pioneering the roll-out of Temenos’ cloud-based core banking platform.
