With a power capacity of 3 MW, V.OA was initially meant to start operations with two data halls. Once the data center reaches its full operation status, it is expected that it will boast a power capacity of 6 MW. It would be capable of accommodating 400 racks in four data halls.
V.O.A Project’s location
V.O.A, the new data center, will be situated at a strategic location in Bairro Quarto Distrito, Porto Alegre, the southern part of the south American nation.
The project’s operational space was a designated 5,000 square meters.
When were the plans for the Edge facility first mooted?
The Edge facility plans were initially put forward by the data center group in December of 2022. This came by the time they were proposing plans for a data center with a 4 MW capacity.
V.tal’s data center network
Currently, V.tal owns an existing network consisting of four edge data centers. These facilities include two data centers in Fortaleza, Brazil, one in Rio de Janeiro, as well as one in Barranquilla, Colombia. These four forms a network in which the company hopes to seamlessly integrate V.O.A project.
Connecting Brazil to a number of countries, such as Argentina, Bermuda, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, and the United States, the company boasts an extensive network, spanning 26,000 km of submarine cables.
Due to its infrastructure, the company plays a huge role in improving digital connectivity. It also takes part in data transmission across regions.
Currently part of telco GlobeNet, V.tal is a fiber firm. The company was previously an fiber-optic infrastructure assets unit belonging to the Oi.
Last year, BTG, GlobeNet’s owner, obtained a majority equity V.tal interest.
