Bodenbender: Where trenchless sewer rehabilitation is simple

As a subordinate system of water hygiene, the sewer system is an indispensable part of everyday life – the task of securing and maintaining this โ€œpart of everyday lifeโ€ and assuming economic and social responsibility has been the basic motivation for the work of Bodenbender GmbH for many years and will continue to be so.

The family-owned company from Hesse (Germany) was founded in 1967 by Herbert Bodenbender Senior and taken over just a few years later by his son Herbert Bodenbender Junior. Now in the hands of the third generation, the company stands for partnership and high-quality solutions in the field of trenchless sewer renovation.

Under the leadership of Andrea Bodenbender, Jonas Bodenbender and Christian Kunkel, the company offers its customers worldwide products for trenchless pipe and sewer renovation. The company specializes in the house connection sector, but also offers products beyond this without any problems – also individually on customer request.

It all started with the desire to find a way to renovate damaged pipes: The solution was the development of the โ€œPoint-Linerยฎ systemโ€ for the rehabilitation of partially damaged pipes.

This was followed, together with Bayer AG, a German chemical and pharmaceutical company, by the development of its own renovation resin โ€œBodenbender EPโ€.

While the company’s technicians now primarily carry out renovation work as part of training courses or on customers’ construction sites as support rather than on their own construction sites, the team was initially active as a service provider in the field of sewer cleaning and the inspection of existing sewers. Herbert Bodenbender and his team encountered all kinds of challenges on construction sites that called for solutions – and that’s exactly what happened:

Today, the mid-sized company supplies customers all over the world with in-house products for long-distance renovation (inliner method), partial renovation (Point-Linerยฎ), inlet renovation and manhole renovation. Products from sales partners MILWAUKEEยฎ, RIDGIDยฎ and RENSSIยฎ round off the company’s portfolio in the areas of inspection and milling and cleaning work.

Bodenbender GmbH has since been able to incorporate other companies into the group, thus focusing on in-house added value and product proximity, which for example includes Bodenbender (Schweiz) AG and IPA Bauchemische Produkte GmbH.

Quality is always the top priority here. For this reason, regular internal quality controls are carried out in laboratories – not least in order to continue to meet the standards required in construction technology. Almost all systems are DIBt-certified. Partners and suppliers are always carefully selected and checked, and new products are thoroughly tested before being released to the customer.

โ€œOur products change again and again over time – a connection is added here, the size is adjusted, the packaging is changed. After all, perfection is a process…and we’ve been going through it for more than 50 years. Anyone who says their products are finished as they are will not be able to survive on the market in the long term.โ€

During this process, the company is always in close contact with its customers, exchanging ideas about possible improvements and applications. Trust is one of the most important components for cooperation with specialist companies: trust in the products and in the team. Many employees have been with the company for well over 20 years and have been looking after their customers ever since. They know their requirements and special features. They understand each other โ€“ so solutions can sometimes be found quickly.

The task for the future will be to continue improving the products โ€“ the company itself has set itself the highest goals in this regard: โ€œSewer rehabilitation is our passion, so we want it to be done well.

We also want to keep up with the times โ€“ modern and digital is possible in our industry too, without losing sight of the basics. The products must be as easy to use and profitable as possible. On this journey, between the trades, construction standards and new approaches, we are always happy to welcome new companions โ€“ whether in Europe or elsewhere.โ€
