Wards, clinics, hospitals and other health infrastructures are essential to ensuring the well-being and safety of communities, as they ensure the treatment of illness and trauma, the containment of infections and the prevention of disease.

These places, where sensitive processes such as surgeries, medical examinations and patient monitoring and stabilization procedures are carried out, depend on electricity, so it is essential to guarantee a reliable, stable and uninterrupted supply to ensure the normal functioning of the equipment and, therefore, the safety of patients and professionals.

Grupel projects for the health sector meet a series of characteristics that give them the precision and reliability so necessary for an application where there is no margin for error:

Versatility

Depending on the facilities, equipment and processes that need to be powered, Grupel Power generators for this sector have a wide range of power outputs to meet any need and make it easy to adapt to each context. In addition, they are suitable for emergency operation, starting up when the power grid fails, or for continuous operation over longer periods if the failure is more serious and long-lasting.

Both standard generator sets and special designs can meet the requirements and specificities of this application, depending on the characteristics and complexity of each context.

Reliability and speed

Power generators for healthcare facilities are manufactured with high quality components that guarantee great efficiency, both in terms of operation and

consumption. Grupel generators are certified according to the ISO 9001 quality standard and the CE mark for European production standards.

It is essential that the generator starts up on time and properly, taking the load of the installation safely and guaranteeing the maintenance of the operation of hospital equipment. For this reason, Grupel projects are programmed with automatic and redundant start-up mode, in order to avoid human intervention and to ensure that the unit starts up reliably at critical moments, saving time and preventing damage.

Stability

The motors used in this type of generator set, particularly those from the Grupel brand, have electronic regulation, which ensures that the speed can be adjusted electrically, considerably reducing the motor’s response time when there are speed variations and more demanding loads.

Autonomy

Given the sensitive nature of the application, Power generators serving the healthcare sector must be able to operate to meet any type of need, including an unpredictable long-term failure. To this end, it is important that the designs have sufficient autonomy, which is achieved by implementing larger capacity fuel tanks.

Over the years, our team has developed many solutions to provide energy support to hospitals and clinics around the world. From standard Power generators to more complex special solutions, we present 4 Grupel projects for the healthcare sector:

Family Planning Clinic, Sudan

Project comprising a lS0kVA generator, with a Perkins engine and Leroy Somer alternator, to support a health unit specializing in family planning, based in Khartoum, Sudan.

La Portada Municipal Hospital, Bolivia

720kVA generator set with Perkins engine, installed at the La Portada Municipal Hospital in La Paz (Bolivia), to guarantee the power supply in the event of a grid failure.

Chase Farm Hospital, United Kingdom

Project comprising three 2250kVA Power generators, with MTU engines and Stamford alternators, to operate at Chase Farm Hospital in England (United Kingdom).

The containerized units, with a total of 6.75 MVA of power, were designed to meet the country’s regulatory requirements, to operate in emergency to support the hospital’s facilities in the event of a fault, but also for STOR operation – at intervals of one to two hours to export power to the grid.

Mobile Military Clinic, United Arab Emirates

Project consisting of two sets of generators with Deutz engines, Leroy Somer alternators and a combined power of 2750kVA, to supply energy to mobile military clinics in Abu-Dhabi.

One of the sets has four S00kVA generator sets 1n 20″ soundproofed containers, which are managed by the same control and distribution system. The other set has a S00kVA generator set and a 250kVA generator set. Both sets are able to operate in desert environments, with extreme temperatures and frequent sandstorms.

Power generators guarantee the continued operation of sanitary equipment and facilities, which is essential in this sector where a failure, no matter how small, can have disastrous consequences, including the loss of life. That’s why Grupel projects for the health sector are produced with the utmost attention to detail, combining the necessary features for reliable and stable operation.
