Property developer Superior Homes Kenya has announced it will open its US $8m holiday homes development in Nakuru County in October this year.
Speaking on Monday, the firm’s managing director Mr. Ian Henderson said the construction of the 12-acre Lake Elementaita Mountain Lodge, located along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway, is currently complete. The lodge consists of 50 villas, complemented with a conference centre, a restaurant, a fully equipped gym, a swimming pool and a spa.
More tourism
Construction commenced in June 2016 with the aim of targeting local tourism by providing a weekend getaway for Kenyans. Local tourism in comparison to foreign tourism is less affected by travel advisories, insecurity, and politics.
Mr. Henderson further said they were targeting tourists who visit the Naivasha area, more so after the completion of the standard gauge railway link to the town.
“With the expected completion of Standard Gauge Railway Phase 2A that is expected to connect Nairobi to Kampala via Naivasha, Kisumu and Malaba, we expect to see a boost in local tourism in Kenya with the ease of access to Naivasha and Nakuru towns,” he said.
The firm is also developing Greenpark Estate, a state-of-the art gated community sitting on a 163 acre piece of land located in Athiriver along Mombasa Road. The estate, which had the construction of its first homes in 2007, currently has more than 500 homes and is targeting to reach 700 homes by 2020. The estate will also have a school, a shopping center and a clubhouse.
