Creekstone Energy LLC has signed the largest solar lease in Utah’s history, covering approximately 13,000 acres of state trust lands in Millard County for utility-scale solar development. The lease, arranged with the School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (TLA), will support Creekstone’s Delta Gigasite AI hyperscale data center campus. Millard County has also granted zoning approval for the first phase of solar development on the leased acreage.
Under the lease, Creekstone plans to develop more than 1 gigawatt (GW) of solar generating capacity over the next 18 months. Revenue from the lease will benefit Utah’s public education system, consistent with TLA’s mandate to maximize long-term returns for state trust beneficiaries.
Delta Gigasite Campus
The Delta Gigasite campus spans more than 1,100 acres adjacent to the leased lands and is master-planned for a total capacity exceeding 10 GW. The site has access to contracted firm natural gas supply and a favorable regulatory environment. Company officials say they expect to begin site preparation and permitting immediately, with first solar generation online within the next year.
“This lease represents a major milestone for Creekstone and for Utah,” said Ray Conley, CEO of Creekstone Energy. “By pairing over a gigawatt of dedicated solar generation with our hyperscale data center infrastructure, we are positioning the Delta Gigasite at the forefront of the AI revolution while creating lasting economic value for Utah’s schools and communities.”
Chase Sheffield, COO of Creekstone Energy, said, “With 13,000 acres now under lease, we have the land position to build a solar portfolio that materially offsets the power demands of our hyperscale tenants. We expect to begin site preparation and permitting activities immediately, with first solar generation online within the next year.”
Landmark solar lease positions Creekstone’s Delta Gigasite as a co-located renewable energy and AI data center campus.
