The Goose Prairie Solar Project
Another major project in the area that was also put up by Cypress Creek Renewables is the Goose Prairie Solar project. It is located about 12 miles west of the Ostrea plant and covers 625 acres. Goose Prairie is also a 80 MW project; broke ground in 2023 and has been generating power since last year. It is fully operational and had generated 2,657 MWh of power by December 2024. This capacity has since more than doubled to 5,878 MWh in January 2025.
There are also plans to install a battery storage system to Goose Prairie as planned with Cypress’ Meta-backed Hanson solar project in Texas. This is however still in the feasibility stage. Nelson Jia, asset manager for now developer Brookfield Renewable made the following statement concerning the battery storage development: “Our development team is in the feasibility stage of potentially exploring the opportunity to install a battery energy storage system at the site as well to complement the solar.”
