Aypa Power Vidal project

The Jackson County Solar Project is a photovoltaic power development planned in Michigan with a capacity of approximately 125MW. Geronimo Power, formerly known as National Grid Renewables, has initiated on-site construction activities for the project. The development forms part of the company’s renewable energy portfolio within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) market.

In addition to this project, the company has also recently completed and brought into operation the 120MW Ross and 47.5MW Fayette Solar Projects online in Ohio.

The neighboring state of Idaho is also working on its own solar projects as Clēnera has secured $304 million in financing for the 120MW Crimson Orchard solar and energy project in Elmore County, Idaho. The firm is a subsidiary of Enlight Renewable Energy. The financing was provided by HSBC, ING Capital, KeyBanc Capital Markets and also MUFG Bank. Crimson Orchard will include 120MW of solar power generation and 400 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery storage.

Moreover, construction has already commenced with commercial operation planned for the first half of 2027. Enlight estimates the total project investment at between $326m and $342m. Tax equity proceeds are projected at $160m–170m.

Clean Energy Impact

Once operational, the solar park will generate enough electricity to power approximately 33,600 homes annually. It is also expected to offset 161,300 metric tons of CO₂ emissions each year, equivalent to removing about 37,600 cars from the road, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Economic Benefits

The project will deliver an estimated $70 million in overall economic impact, including about $28 million in new tax revenue over the first 20 years of operation. These funds will support local counties, townships, and school districts. Construction is being led by Barnhart Energy Company (BEC), sustaining nearly 300 construction and service jobs.

Geronimo’s Regional Growth

The Jackson County Solar project follows Geronimo’s recent announcement of the 250 MW Portage Solar project in Wisconsin. In total, Geronimo has developed over 2.5 GW of clean energy in the MISO region, contributing more than $275 million in new tax revenue to local communities.

Project Timeline

The Jackson County Solar project is expected to be operational in 2026.
