Floor coverings today come in all shapes, sizes and materials and users are spoilt for choice when it comes to fitting out rooms. Manufacturers don’t make the task any easier as they continue to churn out new and innovative products literally daily each designed to improve installation, create better aesthetics and address environmental concerns.

When deciding on what floor coverings to put in a home it all comes down to personal taste, the feel and ambience that is desired, practicality and of course cost. The choices ranges from hardwood floors, vinyl, laminates, ceramics, stone and of course carpets. These all come in a range of colors to compliment the color schemes for the room and each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

The most common looks in a home or hotel are warm and cozy or the more modern, cold and sterile look that are common in hospitals. The more adventurous go for something unique that can be achieved by mixing up the various tiles. Don’t forget the need for functionality though because rooms with heavy traffic will need more durable tiles while rooms such as bathrooms and kitchens will be better served by waterproof products that are easy to mop up and don’t suffer from damp.
