Meta’s Long-Term Solar Agreements with Treaty Oak Clean Energy Advance Its U.S. Clean Energy Goals

Meta’s long-term power purchase agreements with Treaty Oak Clean Energy play a central role in supporting major utility-scale solar projects in Louisiana’s Morehouse and Sabine Parishes, reinforcing the company’s ongoing commitment to clean energy. Louisiana is well known for renewable energy establishment such as the Bayou Galion Solar Project in Northeast Louisiana. The agreements will deliver a combined 385 MWAC of renewable energy to the local grid, advancing Meta’s sustainability and clean energy goals.

Under these agreements, Meta will purchase the environmental attributes generated by the two solar facilities, ensuring that the clean energy produced helps offset its growing power needs, including those of its new AI data center in Richland Parish, Louisiana.

At the time the PPA was unveiled, Meta’s Head of Global Energy, Urvi Parekh, emphasized that the partnership with Treaty Oak underscored both companies’ commitment to delivering new, additional clean energy to the local grid. She noted that when Meta announced its AI data center in Richland Parish, it pledged to work with partners to add new generation to the region — and that the agreement with Treaty Oak fulfills that promise while supporting energy resilience and economic growth across Louisiana.

Across the U.S., Meta is pushing to power its operations with clean energy — investing heavily, including major long-term deals like a 650 MW solar PPA with AES in Texas and Kansas, a 20-year nuclear PPA with Constellation at the Clinton plant in Illinois, and funding for its new $1 billion data-center campus in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin — which Meta plans to match with 100% clean and renewable electricity.

Strengthening Louisiana’s Clean Energy Landscape

The partnership with Meta represents a significant milestone for Treaty Oak Clean Energy, which continues to expand its footprint in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) Southern region.

“Our partnership with Meta marks a critical milestone for Treaty Oak and our commitment to support our customers’ growing clean energy needs in MISO’s Southern footprint,” said Rohit Ogra, Co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer of Treaty Oak. “Together with Meta, we’re strengthening local energy resilience, supporting economic development, and creating long-term value for the communities in which we operate in Louisiana.”

Beekman and Hollis Creek Solar Projects

The Beekman Solar Project in Morehouse Parish will deliver 185 MWAC of renewable energy, with commercial operations expected to begin in Q3 2027.
The Hollis Creek Solar Project in Sabine Parish will add another 200 MWAC, also scheduled for operation in Q3 2027.

Both projects are expected to collectively generate over $100 million in lifetime state and local tax revenue and create approximately 300 construction jobs at peak activity.
