Zelestra and Meta Platforms, Inc. have announced a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the 176 MWdc (136 MWac) Skull Creek Solar Plant in Anderson, Texas. This agreement continues to supports Meta’s ongoing strategy to match its operations with 100 percent renewable energy. It also advances Zelestra’s growing U.S. solar portfolio.
Skull Creek Solar Plant is currently under development and is expected to enter commercial operation by May 2027. It will deliver power into the ERCOT grid, contributing to Texas’ expanding renewable generation capacity while helping Meta progress toward its sustainability goals. Under the terms of the PPA, Meta will offtake a portion of the plant’s output for a long-duration contracted term, providing revenue certainty for project financing and construction execution.
Meta, Zelestra Renewable Energy Cooperation in the U.S.
This new PPA brings the total contracted capacity between Zelestra and Meta to approximately 1.2 GWdc across seven U.S. solar projects, all of which are scheduled to be operational by 2028. Two of these projects started construction in late 2025, with the remainder expected to begin construction in 2026. Among these, 81 MWdc Jasper County Solar Project in Indiana, which is also part of the Meta partnership, recently achieved full commercial operation. Jasper solar project represents the first asset in the collaboration to reach that milestone.
Key Quote on Meta and Zelestra PPA from Skull Creek Solar Plant Project
Phil North, Zelestra’s U.S. CEO, termed the expanded PPA portfolio as evidence of the ‘momentum’ in the companies’ clean-power collaboration. This is a highlight of the role this plays in enabling nearly 1.2 GWdc of new solar generation in the U.S. over the next few years. North also noted that the expanded partnership aligns with Zelestra’s plan to deliver innovative renewable energy solutions tailored to the needs of hyperscale corporate energy buyers.

Skull Creek agreement is also part of a wider shift toward corporate procurement of large-scale renewables in the U.S., particularly in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). ERCOT is a region where low wholesale costs and high solar resource availability have attracted significant investment. Furthermore, Meta’s move also builds on earlier renewable contracts with other developers. These include PPAs for additional solar capacity and environmental attribute agreements as done with the 1000 Mile Solar project in Texas’ Yoakum County.
Zelestra’s Clean Energy Footprint in the U.S.
Zelestra has also been expanding its footprint in the U.S. market. Beyond its collaboration with Meta, the company’s broader U.S. pipeline includes approximately 15 GW of renewable energy projects. These are under development across key states, spanning solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hybrid solutions.
This growth is mainly supported by backing from major investment funds. Zelestra’s expanding renewable portfolio also reflects the rising demand for corporate clean-energy procurement targeted at grid decarbonization efforts.
