Microsoft is making plans to construct two data SAT center campuses in Medina County, located near San Antoni in Texas. Each project will see the tech giant investing $26 million as the company plans to commence construction on the data centers. Microsoft SAT93 and Microsoft SAT94 will commence on March and April 2027 respectively. The firm previously filed for two projects under the same name and at the same address in Medina in February 2025.

However, those projects suggested an investment of $350m each. Moreover, construction of those projects was set to begin in mid-2025 and be completed by mid-2027. According to latest filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and regulation (TDLR), SAT93 will be a one story building.

Moreover, it will be on a greenfield data center site located at 381 County Road in Medina. The building will span 245,000 sq. ft. (22,760 sq. m). Construction is hoped to be completed by the end of April 2029. Various monumental data center projects such as the Temple data center campus by Meta are still taking shape in Texas.

Scope on the Microsoft SAT Data Center Campuses in Texas

Gensler Architecture, Design & Planning, P.C., is the designer slated for both Microsoft SAT data center campuses in Texas. SAT94 will be located on the same site, and similarly span 245,000 sq. ft. (22,760 sq. m) across one story. The data center will see construction start one month after its brother, and finish one month later also. However, Microsoft has yet to reply to inquiry on the project’s delayed timeline and changing investments.

Medina is located around 65 miles northwest of San Antonio in Texas Hill Country. Microsoft has a significant footprint around San Antonio, and is regularly expanding with new projects. In January of this year, it filed for a $400m project in Castroville, a town west of San Antonio, where the company is also developing several data centers. Across the rest of San Antonio, Microsoft has data centers in operation and development across 3545 Wiseman Blvd, 15000 Lambda Drive, 3555 Westover Link, and 5200 & 5150 Rogers Road.

The 5150 Rogers Road site is also set to undergo “renovation/alteration” works valued at $5 million. This is per a separate TDLR filing. Work includes insulated walls and ceiling, vapor barrier, insulated door with seals, and hardware coordination for rack access. Associated MEP components will be integrated.”
