Data center construction across Mississippi is expanding through a new $12 billion development phase, adding additional hyperscale capacity in Madison County and introducing a new data center conversion project in Clinton.
Amazon is advancing the latest expansion, which includes an $11 billion increase in Madison County, where existing data center operations are being scaled up, creating 700 new jobs tied to the additional buildout. This follows earlier development activity in the county that established one of the state’s largest data center campuses.
In Hinds County, the expansion includes a $1 billion project in Clinton, where a former Delphi manufacturing facility is being converted into a data center campus. The project marks Amazon’s first data center site in the city and is expected to create 100 jobs.
Together, the new projects contribute 800 jobs across the latest expansion phase, adding to a broader statewide data center development program spanning multiple counties.
The expansion builds on previously announced developments, including a $3 billion planned data center project in Warren County and a $3 billion Vicksburg project announced in 2025, both forming part of the state’s multi-site data center pipeline.
As part of the additional investment program in Mississippi, Amazon is contributing $300 million toward grid infrastructure improvements in partnership with Entergy Mississippi. The funding supports upgrades to transmission and distribution systems needed to accommodate increased electricity demand from expanded data center operations, while also strengthening overall grid reliability and capacity across the region.
Plans to invest a total of $25 billion in Mississippi
With the latest phase, Amazon’s total planned capital investment in Mississippi’s data center sector now stands at $25 billion, with expectations of more than 2,000 jobs across statewide operations.
The projects reflect continued expansion of hyperscale data center infrastructure across Madison, Hinds, Warren, and Vicksburg locations, driven by multi-phase construction and facility conversion strategies.
Additionally, the Mississippi expansion follows a broader pattern of hyperscale data center construction activity across the United States, including ongoing developments such as Project Caprock in Hale County, Texas, where construction has begun on a 540 MW campus.
