NEOM’s Sindalah

The Sindalah Island Development is a tourism project located in the Red Sea and forms part of the broader NEOM programme in Saudi Arabia. The project was proposed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and represents one of several developments planned within the NEOM region. Sindalah is located approximately five kilometres from the mainland and covers an area of about 840,000 square metres.

Sindalah became the first NEOM development to open to the public following its formal launch. The island project is planned as a destination focused on hospitality, leisure, and tourism activities and forms part of Saudi Arabia’s wider tourism and economic diversification initiatives under Vision 2030.

While featuring a 440-room hotel capacity, 86-berth marina, and golf course, reports in late 2025 indicate a potential management shift to Red Sea Global due to operational challenges and a desire to align with other successful luxury resorts in the region.

Other Projects

Despite tremendous success on the Sindalah project, a few of NEOM’s projects are not advancing as well such as The Line. In recent highlights, NEOM has officially cancelled the $1 billion The Line tunnels contract in northwest Saudi Arabia following retraction claims. In a stock exchange announcement filed on 13 March, South Korean contractor Hyundai E&C said that Neom cancelled its contract on 29 December last year. The company was responsible for executing the drill-and-blast section of The Line’s tunnels.

Scope of work in NEOM’s Sindalah Project.

NEOM’s Sindalah project is anticipated to award a contract to construct the luxury south resort assets in its cluster five island resort. The tender was released in June, and bids must be submitted by September. NEOM reissued the contract to construct the project on Sindalah Island in July. This is a great chapter in NEOM’s history since they will be able to accomplish more of their lofty objectives. Visitors can get a “first glimpse” of what is ahead for this vast range of destinations and developments at NEOM’s debut location.  The island is among the first of a planned series of islands at NEOM.

NEOM’s Sindalah
Recent highlights focus on the opening of one of NEOM’s most anticipated projects, Sindalah.

Each island has a distinct function and is intended to be an ultra-luxury getaway. The resort will have three hotels with 413 keys, 88 villas, 88 villas and 333 serviced apartments built under the Marriot and Four Seasons brands. Furthermore, NEOM’s Sindalah will include 75 offshore buoys for superyachts up to 180 meters and an 86-berth marina for yachts up to 50 meters. It also aims to build a resort under the Four Seasons brand with 225 guest rooms and suites. It will also include 52 villas with one to four bedrooms, and related infrastructure projects are all included in the contract scope.
