Sherman’s health care offerings will receive a dramatic makeover with the planned construction of the $400 million Heritage Regional Medical Center (HRMC), a not-for-profit acute care hospital led by Community Hospital Corporation (CHC). The state-of-the-art facility will combine high-tech gadgetry, compassionate design, and nurturing service to address the needs of patients from Sherman, nearby Texas communities, and southern Oklahoma.

The first stage of the Heritage Regional Medical Center (HRMC) construction will have 100 inpatient beds and minimal infrastructure designed to allow for future expansion of all primary departments, including surgery, imaging, emergency, and outpatient. A maximum of 200 more inpatient beds are projected to be added in future phases. HRMC is expecting to have more than 400 employees at opening, with staff projected to surpass 1,000 upon completion of the expansion.

City officials of Sherman view the project as an improvement in healthcare for the community. The hospital will provide cutting-edge medical care in a setting that is favorable to comfort, healing, and clinical excellence. Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and technicians working as teams will be delivering patient care with skill and compassion.

Project Partners

The development is being led by Community Hospital Corporation (CHC) in collaboration with local and regional partners, including the City of Sherman, Grayson County, First United Bank, Simmons Bank, First State Bank, two tribal nations, the WNJ Health Foundation, the Texoma Community Foundation, and Covenant Development, a well-known Sherman-area real estate firm. ADAMS Management Services Corporation will represent the owner during construction, while national health care architecture firm ESa is responsible for the facility’s design.

Jim Kendrick, CHC president and CEO, said the new hospital would combine high-quality, state-of-the-art medical care with a commitment to caring service. He also publicly announced the appointment of Ron Seal as HRMC’s new CEO. Seal has had past executive roles as CEO of Texoma Medical Center and Wesley Health Services in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Situated in the Heritage Ranch Master Planned Community of south west Sherman, the hospital will ground in early 2026. In operation, HRMC will serve Sherman, Texas border towns, and southern Oklahoma, with a long-term goal of building an enduring, locally based health care model with local physicians and investors.
