The Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm

The Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm is an estimated US$3 billion, 640MW offshore wind project located 8 to 17 km off the west coast of Taiwan in the Taiwan Strait, developed by Yunneng Wind Power Co., Ltd.—a joint venture between Skyborn Renewables, TotalEnergies, EGCO Group, and Sojitz Corporation. Featuring 80 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines on monopile foundations, the project powers over 600,000 Taiwanese households under a 20-year power purchase agreement with Taiwan Power Company (TPC). Following the installation of its final turbine and completion of construction in December 2024, the wind farm achieved full energization in January 2025 and was officially inaugurated in March 2025 by TotalEnergies and Skyborn Renewables, with its Commercial Operations Date (COD) expected in June 2025. This success in the Taiwan Strait is mirrored by the steady progress of the Hai Long offshore wind project, where the first turbine was recently installed at Hai Long 3, marking a critical step toward its 1,022 MW full grid connection.
