ANDRITZ has unveiled the latest 100 MW green hydrogen plant to supply Germany’s Hydrogen Core Network after REPCO JV placed an order for the project. Also in the latest Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) order receipt to ANDRITZ, the project’s financial investment decision is due mid-2025. REPCO (Rostock Energy Port Cooperation) JV, established in 2022, has RWE Generation SE, EnBW Neue Energien GmbH, RheinEnergie AG and Rostock Port GmbH sitting at one table.

What to expect of ANDRITZ’s second hydrogen plant in Germany
ANDRITZ’s second 100 MW green hydrogen plant will be build at port of Rostock. It will not only supply the country’s hydrogen core network, but also be the first to do so.
With the commissioning date set to 2027, the project will have a production plant, and purification and compression systems. It will also have hydrogen reservoirs, and associated filing stations. Also included in the development plans are utilities and offsites.
All this will see ANDRITZ second 100 MW green hydrogen plant feed its first batch of hydrogen to the Hydrogen Core Network in Germany in 2028. Thence, it will be operational.
The Hydrogen Core Network was set up with one aim in scope. Supply of hydrogen across Europe. Alongside being an integral pipeline in the transport of hydrogen, the network is also set to benefit individual countries in other ways. A name rocking waves in the energy sector is “decarbonization”, and countries and regions alike have not been shy to court the net zero strategies. ANDRITZ latest 100 MW green hydrogen plant in Germany will also supply local industries and the transport sector.
ANDRITZ’s first 100 MW hydrogen plant in Germany

The 100 MW green hydrogen plant by ANDRITZ to supply the Hydrogen Core Network in Germany will be the second order for the Austrian-based company. Prior to this was another 100 MW green hydrogen plant after the order was placed by Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH. The hydrogen produced here will be directed to carbon-free steel making production programs and projects. Production in parts of the whole unit will start as early as 2026, as the project eyes completion by 2033.
