The former Southern Comfort Mobile Home Park in Clearwater will soon be home to a 400 apartment complex called the Aventon Clearwater Apartments. The park which is located at 24479 U.S Highway 19 N was ordered to be closed by a judge due to the owner’s negligence in fixing a sewage system problem that affected the park’s drinking water system through the leakage of bacteria into the ground.
Afterwards, property was acquired for $15.56 million by the North Carolina-based Aventon Companies, who are known for developing and managing multifamily communities. The apartment complex tagged Aventon Clearwater Apartments will be executed as a joint venture between Aventon Companies and FCP, a private real estate equity firm based in Maryland.

The development plan for the Aventon Clearwater Apartments will include multiple three-story buildings sitting on 22 acres of land at the former Southern Comfort Mobile Home Park. The three-story buildings will house approximately 396 apartments and these apartments will feature one bedroom to three bedrooms, ranging from 752 square feet to 1,488 square feet.
In addition, the Aventon Clearwater Apartments complex will be designed to have a state-of-the-art fitness center, a playground, walking trails, and a dog park. A pool with a resort-style, a yoga studio, and a coffee bar has also been included as part of the design for the apartment. Other amenities that will be featured in the building include a hammock garden and an outdoor kitchen. The design plan also takes into consideration post Covid work conditions and will feature on-site offices, as well as communication spaces.
The location of the Aventon Clearwater Apartments on Highway 19 will also give the residents access to some major healthcare facilities such as the Mease Countryside Hospital, Morton Plant Hospital, and the BayCare Health Systems headquarters. Other accessible facilities include Tech Data corporation and the Lockheed Martin Facility. The proposed time of completion for the complex is in the next two years.
The architectural design of the Aventon Clearwater Apartments will be overseen by Scott + Cormia Architects, a leading architectural firm based in Orlando, while the interior designs will be done by Beasley and Henley Interior design based in Winter Park.
The vice president of development for Aventon Cos, Burk Hedrick in a statement said they were aspiring to be a trusted name for premium living in Pinellas County.
