A certificate of need was issued recently for the building and operations of a 40-bed Baptist Health new Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. This new clinic is intended to be operated as a joint venture between the Birmingham-based Encompass Health and Louisville-based Baptist Health; the developers are anticipating that this new health facility in Louisville will become operational by the fourth quarter of 2023.

Located near the intersection of Blankenbaker and Bluegrass parkways in Jeffersontown, the new Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital in Louisville; with an estimated cost of $41.7 million is meant to replace the 29-bed unit owned by Baptist Health, which is situated at the Baptist Health Louisville campus at 4000 Kresge Way in St Matthews. The new 40-bed hospital will offer health services to patients recovering from debilitating illnesses and injuries which include neurological disorders, strokes, amputations, complicated orthopedic conditions, brain and spinal cord injuries. Additionally, this health facility will provide 24-hour nursing care and also therapy treatments for physical, occupational and speech, to assist patients with restoring their functional ability and quality of life.

The President of Encompass Health’s central region, Troy DeDecker expressed his excitement over the development of the new Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital in Louisville. DeDecker mentioned that Encompass Health is eager to expand and grow their rehabilitation services in Kentucky;  and that his company was also looking forward to working with Baptist Health. DeDecker described the Louisville-based Baptist Health as a forward-thinking and well–respected healthcare leader  and premier provider of acute inpatient rehabilitation to Louisville residents and beyond for  over 40 years.

Baptist Health’s chief strategy and marketing officer, Dr. Jody Prather also commended the development of this new Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital in Louisville and spoke on the valuable services that will be provided to the residents through the operations of the new clinic. He also stated that the aim of this inpatient rehabilitation hospital was to provide patients with coordinated and connected care that meets at any point in their healthcare journeys and makes a positive difference in their lives.
