Summary of H2 Cumbuco Ammonia Plant in Brazil
The H2 Cumbuco is located at the Port of Pecém in Ceará, and aims to become a flagship for scalable, export-oriented green ammonia production.
At the heart of the H2 Cumbuco Ammonia Plant in Brazil is a planned 500 MW electrolysis facility, which will convert renewable electricity into green hydrogen. It will then synthesize it into ammonia for use in industrial facilities and the maritime industry. The plant is expected to begin operations by 2030, with targeted exports to Europe and Asia. The H2 Cumbuco green hydrogen project will additionally meet Brazil’s domestic energy and industrial-need demand.

Key Quotes
FRV’s Chief Innovation Officer, Felipe Hernández, highlighted the project’s alignment with Brazil’s ambitions to lead in renewable hydrogen. “We see Brazil as a future global leader in this sector”, Felipe said. “… and our partnership with Envision Energy reinforces our commitment to providing clean, competitive energy solutions that drive both economic and environmental progress.”
Envision’s Play in Brazil’s H2 Cumbuco Project
For Envision, whose achievements include the world’s largest AI-driven off-grid green ammonia plant in China, the deal reinforces its strategic expansion into Latin America. According to the energy company, its Power-to-X platform and AI optimization software will ensure a smart, modular energy system that can be adapted across other markets. This, they say, is a key selling point for FRV as it scales up clean hydrogen investments.
FRV’s Play in the H2 Cumbuco Ammonia Plant in Brazil
This is not FRV’s first foray into green hydrogen as it already heads projects in Spain, backed by public funding. Now, with key groundwork secured in Brazil – including land and water access, engineering designs, and permits – H2 Cumbuco is emerging as one of the most advanced clean hydrogen ventures in Latin America.
