The world’s largest vertical farm project dubbed Bustanica hydroponic farm has successfully been delivered in Dubai South. Group Amana, a regional leader in design-build construction, announced the facility’s delivery.
Amana Contracting in collaboration with Crop One Holdings and Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC) built the 330,000 sq ft farm near Dubai World Central.

Joe Labaky revealed that the Bustanica hydroponic farm construction involved specialized systems. These systems included grow fans, pack house equipment, nutrient dosing systems, and grow room controls among others. The aim was to ensure maximum environmental conservation as well as sustainability.
According to Labaky the project achieved a crucial health and safety milestone. In total, it had well over one million work hours without lost time injury. In addition Labaky said that through the project, the AMANA Contracting continues to push the boundaries of innovation by using the latest building techniques. Moreover, he added that it is of great privilege to be a part of a significant project in the UAE’s agricultural history.

Aim for the Bustanica hydroponic farm
The $40 million facility aims to produce well over a million kilos of high-quality leafy greens with 95% less water than conventional farming.
Under the Bustanica brand, the farm’s produce will be available for purchase to consumers across stores within the UAE. Additionally, some Emirates flights will also offer some of the produce from the farm.
Generally, the Bustanica hydroponic farm will boost long-term food security and self-sufficiency in the UAE. It will also boost long-term food security and enhance self-sufficiency within the region.
