Woda Cooper Cos. has opened the 50-unit Center Crossing Senior Housing Community in Hickory, North Carolina, that serves individuals aged 55 and above, and who earn between 40% and 80% of the area’s median income.
The facility is a four-story structure with 28 one-bedroom flats and 22 two-bedroom units. Five of the units are accessible for people with mobility issues, while two are designated for those with vision or hearing problems.

Each apartment has ENERGY STAR appliances, and the entire complex is ENERGY STAR 2.0 certified. A multipurpose room with a kitchenette, a fitness center, a computer room, an onsite management office, and laundry facilities are among the community features. There are also outdoor sitting places.
Center Crossing Senior Housing Community is located at 105 S Center St., less than half a mile southeast of downtown Union Square and its varied retail, eating, and entertainment choices. One mile south of the property is the Hickory Plaza and a Walmart.

Woda Cooper served as the development’s general contractor, and its management section currently controls leasing and property management. TightLines Designs handled the architecture, while Mc2 Engineering and Fluhrer Reed handled the civil and structural engineering respectively. E2 Technologies provided green building consultancy.
According to Catawba County records, RiverHills Bank gave US$ 5.6M in construction and first mortgage two-year bridge loans in 2020. The North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) supplied two US$ 1.7M permanent debt loans, as well as low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) program to assist equity financing, while CREA obtained the tax credits.
The Western Piedmont Council of Governments contributed US$ 250K through its Unifour Home Consortium while the NCHFA provided two permanent debt loans to support the development.
