A Chinese firm Nangtong Sanjian Construction Company is set to construct 1,000 houses for the federal civil servants in Nigeria following the The signing of an agreement that took place between the Chinese firm and the Staff Housing Loans Board.

According to Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, the Head of  civil servants in Nigeria, the agreement provides another opportunity to promote one of the welfare packages for the federal civil servants by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Housing demand in Nigeria have significantly been on the rise, where by only 20% of the public servants owned houses of their own. However, the time has come for all Nigerians to reap the beneficiaries of their contribution to the African Development Bank as a member of the African Union to enable Nigerians with a chance of owning their own homes.

The current federal administration has acknowledged the country’s housing shortage. The federal civil servants is however willing to make the sector a key focus in the change agenda with a target of 500,000 housing units included in this year’s budget under the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing.

The Federal Government employees will not only motivate the Civil Service on mortgages, but the engagement will go a long way in reducing perceived corrupt practices in the Civil service. Additionally, the housing sector will equally stimulate the country’s economy growth as well as creating employment opportunity and boost the nation’s economy.

Mrs. Oyo-Ita stated that, the most developing economies is having key construction. However, according to Mr. Tee Ching Seng, CNTC vice General Manager, the firm is ready to share its wealth of experience with the Nigerians. He further assured the Nigerians on his company delivering the most quality and affordable houses to the civil servants.
