Construction has broken ground on the Brownsburg Logistics Park in Indianapolis, the company’s largest commercial development to date, which will include several distribution centers and retail space. The Ronald Reagan Logistics Center, which will be located near I-74 and Ronald Reagan Parkway, has already begun construction. The first phase consists of four buildings totalling 1.4 million square feet of logistical space, as well as parking for roughly 300 trailers and almost 800 automobiles. One of the structures, which is slated to be completed next autumn, is being built by Pepper Construction of Indiana. Scannell Properties, based in Indianapolis, said building on the 125-acre tract will take place in two phases.

Construction of Brownsburg Logistics Park Phase 2

Phase two of the development will begin in the fall of next year. Officials in Brownsburg believe it may contain five complexes totalling more than 2.4 million square feet of warehouse space, as well as many retail prospects. Brownsburg economic development officials report that 2021 has been a “very excellent year,” and the Reagan Logistics Center exemplifies the town’s ongoing progress in Hendricks County.

“Brownsburg witnessed a commitment of more than US$20 million in capital investment and almost 300 employment in 2020.” By June 2021, the six-month capital investment commitment totaled more than US$71 million and 600 employment. “By the end of October, those numbers had risen to over US$132 in capital investment and 900 jobs paying an average of more than US$25 per hour,” said Debbie Cook, economic development director and interim co-town manager, adding that with more projects in the pipeline, Brownsburg will see a 3% tax base growth, which she says is a top priority for the town council.

The Peterson Company is the general contractor for the next three structures, the first of which will be completed in June and the last two by next autumn. “Brownsburg is an ideal location for a logistics facility of this size.” The rapid expansion of e-commerce is expected to continue, and customers expect to get their orders quickly. “Goods can reach approximately 60% of the United States in one day from Brownsburg,” said Shaun Cofer, development manager at Scannell Properties.
