Construction works for the first Tier 3 data center in Sharjah are set to commence soon. The project is a result of a joint venture (JV) between Khazna Data Centres and BEEAH DIgital. The two firms aim to contribute to the advancement of digital infrastructure within Sharjah. Therefore, the data center is a great pioneering step.

The facility will feature environmental control systems. It aims to support the Government’s goals toward digital transformation, in addition, to encouraging organizations across the UAE to pursue digitally led operations.

Features of the first Tier 3 data center in Sharjah

The center will feature full redundancy grade power alongside high-tech security and fire and environmental control systems. Upon completion and official operation, the center will boast a capacity of 9MW. Furthermore, it will have an array of power as well as cooling pathways.

To conserve energy, the first Tier 3 data center in Sharjah will make use of solar power to minimize emissions related to power consumption. Additionally, the center will also adapt to a smart LED lighting system with motion sensors, further contributing toward conserving energy.

Noteworthy, the facility aims to attain a Power Usage Efficiency of 1.5 and below. This will be more energy-efficient than the general industry average. Furthermore, it will be built to reduce water consumption within particular systems.

Interestingly, the project for the construction of the Tier 3 data center in Sharjah is well in alignment with Khazna’s ‘Future First Strategy. The initiative, by 2050, aims to achieve total carbon-neutrality operation across all of its sites. Moreover, the project is also aligned with BEEAH Digital’s purpose to accelerate sustainable impact for communities that use robust digital solutions.

In the long run, the project aims to adopt Net Zero waste certifications as well as standards.
