The construction of the Wingspan community in Texas Cypress city has begun. The project is developed by Howard Hughes Corp,  a real estate development and management company based in The Woodlands, Texas.

The company announced its plans last year to build this project on a 27 acre-site within Bridgeland’s neighbourhood. The project will be the first set of build-to-rent turnkey homes for the company.

Wingspan community project overview

Wingspan community features 263 homes in a gated property within Prairieland Village, surrounded by 40 acres of forests and meadows. Its location is directly south of the 22-acre Chrysalis lake which is in close proximity to Bridgeland Creek Parkway.

The project offers a variety of housing options. These include a mix of single-family attached and detached houses, townhomes, duplexes and casita-style homes. Design plans for the property show a range of one- to four-bedroom apartments. Sizes will vary from 650 to 1,700 square feet. Several shared amenities will be included in the project such as a fitness centre, park for pets, and playground.

In addition, all homes will have backyards, and residents will have access to outdoor spaces equipped with grilling stations.  Maintenance services will also be provided and some selected units will have garages. Houston-based Arch-Con Corp. will handle the construction, while Howard Hughes multifamily division will serve as Wingspan managers for the project.

Remarks on the project

Travis Guinn, the vertical development V.P at Howard Hughes, mentioned that the project is being built in response to the region’s unwavering demand for turnkey homes.

Jim Carman, Howard Hughes’s President for the Houston region, on the other hand, said in an interview that Cypress had a high occupancy rate. He said most renters in the region are looking for single-family units with yard space. Therefore, this implies that the Wingspan community would most likely have a high success rate.

The first set of residents are expected to move in by the summer of 2023
