Firethorn Trust has chosen Glencar to construct a 340,000-square-foot logistics and industrial building. The project is known as Barnsley 340 and is located at the Gateway 36 development in South Yorkshire.
Barnsley 340, a 24-acre logistics site development, will have 320,000 square feet of Grade. Additionally, it will have a logistics space and 20,000 square feet of office space. It will be delivered as net zero carbon in construction. Furthermore, it will have best-in-class future-proofed specifications, and aim for the BREEAM “Excellent” certification.
Barnsley 340 to set a footprint in logistics real estate sector
“Glencar prides itself on solid alliances and has built its business on the basis of long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with our clients,” said Pete Goodman, managing director of Glencar for the Midlands and North. We are thrilled to receive our third project instruction from Firethorn to date.”
“We are ready, willing, and able to assist that expansion. This is as Firethorn continues to increase its portfolio of sites and footprint in the logistics real estate sector throughout the U.K. Thus, we are totally committed to long-term cooperation. We look forward to beginning this project and completing it to the benchmark specification for net zero in construction. The specification is quickly becoming the new standard in the industry.”
Greater economic and employee advantages
The region continues to benefit from the ongoing inbound investment. Paul Martin, development director at Firethorn Trust, stated: “We are convinced that the Firethorn specification will unlock the full potential of the site. Thus, it will bring greater economic and employee advantages into the area. We are thrilled to work with Glencar once more after seeing the fantastic work and innovation they are putting forth for Firethorn at other development sites in Erith and Peterborough.”
Barnsley 340 overlooks the Dearne Valley Parkway, less than one mile from Junction 36 of the M1. Later this year, construction on the site will begin, and it is expected to be finished by Q2 2023.
