Construction of a large mixed-use European style Wolf Lakes Village is underway in Georgetown. The massive project lies on 164 acres of land, located at the northwest corner of Interstate 35 and State Highway 29, and will mimic a European-styled village.
Iva Wolf McLachlan, who is the land owner and Wolf Lakes LP President, said that the design is aimed at being extraordinary, with the highest level of quality to be built in Georgetown.

The McLachlans consider the Wolf Lakes Village their premier site because of its closeness to homes and shopping. 110 acres of this site is owned by Jay Wolf, while the remaining 54 acres is owned by Iva and this part has already been earmarked for development.
Architectural designer Jeff Blackard coined the word “neo-retroism” as the design style for this European style Wolf Lakes Village project, and according to him, the idea comes from portraying the Old World architecture in the present.
Wolf Lakes LP has a contract with Hines, the largest private developer in the world, for the construction of 336 units of multifamily buildings on 14 acres of the land. They are also under contract with Novak Brothers for a minimum of 300 units of multifamily townhomes on another 12 acres.
Development will feature a 60,000 square foot medical office and an ambulatory surgical center by the hospital network Ascension Seton on a 12-acre land. There are also other plans with H-E-B to build a 117,000 square foot flagship grocery store on about 15 acres of land.
Overall, the master plan for the European style Wolf Lakes Village will contain apartments and townhomes, about three lakes, sports courts, an ice skating rink, event center, and a corporate campus on the northwest corner of I-35
About 10 acres will be allotted for roads and other infrastructure and this Infrastructural development will include the construction of wastewater channels under Interstate 35, the building of water quality ponds close to an amphitheater and underground utilities.
Donald Mclachlan stressed that these current plans are conceptual and are still open to designs. He hinted that they would like to see an entertainment hub, which could be both indoor and outdoor and houses restaurants as well as a hotel, on the rest of the plot. The European style Wolf Lakes Village is proposed to provide housing for approximately 5,000 residents.
