Clear Springs Development Co., is getting ready to build Cottages at Springfield Town Center, and this marks the second construction phase of their mixed-use development project, bringing 50 new single-family homes and commercial spaces to Springfield Town, Fort Mill.Â
The company has also decided to continue working with Saussy Burbank, a local home builder that worked with them on the first phase, named Baxter Village and this initial phase has been successfully completed. Meanwhile, construction work on the second phase is expected to commence next year.

The site for the new Cottages at Springfield Town Center will be located at the corner of Springfield Parkway and U.S. Highway 21. Some of the land to be used will be gotten from the leftover parcels of the first phase. There are several parcels which were originally marked for the first phase that are still vacant and three of those plots will be marked out for the second phase.
The Cottages at Springfield Town Center will include 120,000 square feet of commercial space and feature two-story buildings for the homes. The buildings will occupy between 1,750 and 2,200 square feet of land and the design will also have an optional detached depot as well as green landscaping of the homesites. Other inclusions in this second phase of the development will be restaurants and pedestrian-oriented services.Â
Commercial spaces will be designated for small offices and shops, which will be contained in a one story building. This area could also feature a brewing plant and an outdoor common area.Â
The president of Saussy Burbank Bob Zweier said his company was thrilled to team up with Clear Springs again to build the Cottages at Springfield Town Center. He also pointed out that working with Clear Springs previously, had assured them that both companies share a vision for high-quality homes.
Kerri Rubosto, who is the senior vice president at Clear Springs, was also happy that the development which in the past had focused more on the west side of Interstate 77, is now finally drifting in the direction where the Cottage is being developed.
