A close to US$ 28M contract for the implemenation of a project for the modernization & expansion of drinking water supply system in Gombe, a state in northeastern Nigeria has been approved. Awarded to Jidadu Ventures by the Nigeria’s State Water Resources Commission, the contract was approved by the Gombe State Executive Council in a meeting presided over by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

As per the contract, Jidadu Ventures will expand services and construct booster stations along Bauchi Road in the Gombe Capital Special Development Area, Tunfure, and Tashan Aduwa. To supply drinking water to the international conference center, a third booster station will be constructed around NTA Gombe.

Additional works for the project for modernization & expansion of drinking water supply system in Gombe

It is said that the drinking water supply system in Gombe will also entail the construction of a mini drinking water network in Tabra, the laying of approximately 160 km of water distribution pipes in the city, the installation of 100 isolation valves, the rehabilitation of old system installations, as well as the rehabilitation of 100 existing valves over a 24-month duration.

Gombe Water Resources Commissioner Mijinyawa Yahaya stated that the project also involves the restoration and expansion of the Wuro Juli water supply system in Gombe, as well as the installation of 2,000 smart meters and 250 water meters, adding that the contract is worth $11.49 billion which will be funded by the Gombe State government.

The State Executive Council approved the contract for street cleaning and solid waste disposal after Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and executives of Jidadu Ventures signed it recently. Gombe, like other states in Nigeria, strives to eradicate pollution.
