DPD has chosen Caddick Construction to build a 62,286-square-foot parcel distribution center in Carlisle. The contractor will arrive on site in mid-November to begin a 10-month construction project. This project is expected to be completed in August 2023.

The move comes after Kingmoor Park Properties announced last month that it had received planning permission for the new facility at its K2 development site. K2 is the new home for large occupiers looking for industrial and logistics space at Carlisle Kingmoor Park, which is adjacent to M6 Junction 44.

DPD currently occupies a 42,195-square-foot unit at Kingmoor Park. However, he has signed a new lease on this larger, design-and-build facility to accommodate its growing needs.

The new distribution center in Carlisle will have space for 20 HGVs and 181 vans. It will be built in a sustainable manner and will have an EPC rating of ‘A.’ Ten car parking spaces will be designated for car sharing, and electric vehicle charging stations will be installed in some of the car and van parking spaces.

“We have the land and the workforce occupiers require, as well as a supportive local council that backs our plans to attract new businesses and create jobs,” said Neil McIntyre of Kingmoor Park Properties. When completed, K2 will provide over one million square feet of new industrial/logistics space on a site. The company will have its own solar farm that can meet up to 70% of the energy needs of occupiers.

“The professional team has been working hard to bring this scheme to site. Thus, we are looking forward to working with Caddick Construction in the successful delivery of the project,” said James Nicholson of Harlex Property, the development manager for the scheme at K2. Having DPD as the first tenant is a wonderful start to the delivery of the wider K2 site.

“In addition to the DPD building, we recently submitted an outline planning application for the larger 82-acre K2 site. It will house up to 1,100,000 sq ft of brand new industrial and logistics buildings.”

Colliers’ John Sullivan and Nathan Khanverdi and JLL’s Andrew Pexton and Rob Kos are the agents for K2. Fletcher Rae Architect, G&T Project Management, Richard Boothroyd Associates, Ramboll, WSP, Sweco, Re-form, and Multi Utility UK are among the other professionals on the project’s professional team.
