DayOne, a Singapore-based developer of next-generation digital infrastructure, has announced a landmark investment of €1.2 billion to buid a hyperscale data center campus in Lahti, Finland.

The campus will transform a 98,900 m² former industrial site in Kiveriö into a state-of-the-art facility, beginning with one building delivering a capacity of 50 MW. Once fully complete, the site will scale to 128 MW, making it one of the region’s most powerful data center hubs.

The digital infrastructure company also aims for LEED Gold certification or higher while additionally tapping into Finland’s cold climate through its free-cooling, air-cooled chillers. This also leads to the exploration of ways to reuse excess heat from the data center hub in Lahti’s district heating system.

Project Impact

DataOnes’s billion-dollar investment also echoes its progress to the local communities and Finland to a greater scale.

A €2.5 million Growth Partnership Agreement with the city and LUT Universities will fund Research & Development (R&D), student internships, and faculty collaboration. This is aimed at building talent and aligning university programs with the growing industry needs.

The data center will also generate around 100 skilled jobs and enlist 1,000 construction workers when the phase is at its peak.

This investment underscores Finland’s draw as a green computing hub while expanding DayOne’s international portfolio. The 1.3 billion, 128 MW data center hub also offers a glimpse into scalable, resource-efficient digital infrastructure for the future.
