Detroit City FC revealed the name and first look at its new stadium in Corktown— AlumniFi Field — which will be ready for the 2027 USL Championship season. The announcement came Monday evening with two renderings, which show the views from the northwest and south.
The 15,000-seat soccer-specific stadium will rise in the intersection of Michigan Avenue and 20th Street, on the site of the long-vacant Southwest Detroit Hospital. The club purchased the land in 2024 and has been given city council approval to demolish the dilapidated structure, which has sat vacant for nearly 20 years. Demolition, estimated at $6.5 million, will be assisted by a city reimbursement of up to $5.92 million.
Construction is expected to commence in late 2025, pending remaining approvals. International architecture firm HOK is leading the design of the project.
AlumniFi — a digital banking app created by MSU Federal Credit Union — has extended its partnership with DCFC and purchased the naming rights to the new stadium. DCFC CEO Sean Mann said that the stadium is not only a landmark for the club but a civic project with the aim of contributing to Detroit’s sense of community and providing something for all ages.
AlumniFi President and CEO April Clobes echoed those thoughts, saying the partnership goes above bricks and mortar. She referred to it as an investment in Detroit’s future together, supported by financial literacy, community programs, and local initiatives.
Detroit City FC formed in 2012 and has called Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck home since 2016, after playing a couple of seasons at Cass Tech High School. AlumniFi Field will usher in a new chapter for the club — and the city’s sports landscape.
