The rehabilitation of the 23km Dome-Kitaase road is expected to begin in August of 2022. This is according to the Ghanaian Ministry of Roads and Highways. The Dome-Kitaase road project begins from the Dome Roundabout in Greater Accra and concludes in the Eastern Region at Kitase.
It will be completed in 24 months. Upon completion, the road is expected to be used as an alternative route for Peduase and Akuapem enclave. Also, one of the prestigious Universities in Ghana.
The Dome-Kitaase road rehabilitation project contractor
First Sky Limited was awarded the contract for the Dome-Kitaase road rehabilitation project by the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Amoako-Attah. The Minister said that he was confident that the contractor would deliver the project as scheduled, competently, and efficiently.
First Sky Limited, is known to have handled the construction of the Kete Krachi–Dodiokope road. The project was carried out in three phases in October 2020. Funded by COCOBOD the project reportedly cost a total of GHc156 million. This was GHc20 million less what the project was expected to cost.Â
The Ghana Highway Authority served as the implementing agency and the project’s supervising consultant.Â
Funding for the project
The Ghanaian government and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) are funding the Dome-Kitaase road rehabilitation project.
They have so far mobilized GHC 195 million that has already been granted to First Sky Limited to facilitate the start of the project.
