The solar plant in El Gouna has the capacity to supply 16% of the town’s demands
The solar plant El Gouna covers 245,000 sqm and costs EGP 97m to build. Every year, 14 GWh are produced. With a capacity of 7.128 MWp and a 25-year Independent Power Producer (IPP) self-consumption system, the solar plant can supply 16% of the town’s demands. The streets and buildings of El Gouna are lit by the solar power generated, which eases year-round energy consumption strain. However, in the near future, El Gouna intends to quadruple production at its solar factory and expand it.
However, the trip demonstrates Orascom Development’s efforts to fulfill its responsibilities as a responsible investor. And to advance economic, social, and environmental development in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, the solar plant in El Gouna helps maintain its status as the United Nations Environment Program’s first sustainable town in the Middle East since 2014.
“Since El Gouna’s inception, Orascom Development has been committed to realizing its vision of building sustainable, connected settlements,” Amer comments.
Amer continues by saying that the trip is consistent with the company’s dedication to Egypt’s policy of boosting the use of renewable energy sources. As well as adhering to the UN SDGs to ensure clean energy at reasonable costs.
