Emirates NBD Egypt S.A.E. (Emirates NBD Egypt), a branch of Emirates NBD, which is one of the top banks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced that it will provide slightly over US$ 127M for the construction of the El Hamam Agricultural Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Northern region of Egypt.

This offer is in line with the bank’s policy to take on a pivotal role in national infrastructure projects, especially those related to land reclamation and new urban community development.

The funds will be given to the joint venture of four companies selected by the Egyptian government for the design, supply, construction, operation, and maintenance of the El Hamam Agricultural Wastewater Treatment Plant back in March this year (2021).

Emirates NBD-Egypt CEO’s remarks

Mohamed Berro, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Emirates NBD-Egypt said, “We are really pleased with the strategic cooperation between major construction companies to build such a large scale agricultural wastewater treatment plant.”

“As a leading bank, we solemnly believe in our responsibility to support the plans of the government of this North African country’s government through the provision of funding for infrastructure projects,”

“We are certain that this project to build the El Hamam Agricultural Wastewater Treatment Plant will make way for new rural communities in the Western Desert, and as a result guarantee sustainable development and ultimately benefit the national economy,” he concluded.
