Egyptian-based Arab Contractors have acquired a new contract for the implementation of Equatorial Guinea’s housing project. The company is tasked with the role of facilitating the construction of 100,000 housing units. The agreement was signed during a meeting between various dignitaries from both nations. Among them was the Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny. His Equatorial Guinea counterpart, Clemente Ferreiro Villarino, the Minister of State for Public Works and Urban Planning was also present. Egypt’s minister confirmed that the project would be executed under the supervision of the nation’s Ministry of Housing. He noted that the contracted company has significant capabilities in ensuring the project’s delivery. Furthermore, he noted that this can be proven by the number of projects the company has carried out in Equatorial Guinea. “We will place the agreed-upon projects under our direct supervision,” he noted.

The Scope of Implementation of Equatorial Guinea’s Housing Project
Equatorial Guinea’s housing project is expected to be conducted in various phases that will ensure successful implementation. El-Sherbiny noted that the execution phases of the project will be visited and inspected occasionally. Moreover, he noted that this will be done just as it is currently done with the Tanzania dam project. “It is being implemented by the Egyptian-Swedish consortium, the Arab Contractors-Swedish Electric. The minister added that Arab Contractors are working to expand their presence on the African continent.

The company seeks to “spread development and transfer expertise to our brothers in various countries where it operates.” The Egyptian-based company is already implementing a number of projects in the country, including road and electricity projects. Once completed, the housing project will facilitate the provision of benefits to Equatorial Guinea’s residents. Moreover, the project aligns with Equatorial Guinea’s vision for sustainable development. It also facilitates the strengthening of bilateral relations in the fields of construction and development.
