An EPC contract for the construction of a low-carbon ammonia Synloop facility in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) region has been awarded. The engineering, procurement, and construction contract is worth US$ 300M.

It was awarded to Tecnimont, a subsidiary of Maire Tecnimont. Tecnimont will work alongside its sister company, Nextchem on the project.

Scope of the project for the construction of ammonia Synloop facility in GCC

The scope of work for the project includes engineering activities. Additionally, the supply of equipment and materials alongside construction activities will also be included. The engineering works for the project are set to commence right away by Tecnimont.

Meanwhile, after a final investment decision is made, procurement and construction works will begin later on. The project for the construction of the ammonia Synloop facility in GCC is aimed to be concluded by the second half of 2025. The facility is projected to produce 3,000 tons of low-carbon ammonia in a day.

Maire Tecnimont Group CEO remarks on the project 

The CEO of Maire Tecnimont Group expressed happiness with the project. Alessandro Bernini stated that the facility will be of an essential contribution. This was well in reference to the energy transition of the region of the GCC.

Alessandro further explained that the low-carbon ammonia Synloop facility in the GCC will reduce the carbon footprint of the fertilizer value chain. Additionally, the facility will contribute to the steady expansion of the green energy business.
