The Ethiopian Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) plans to collaborate with local and foreign investors in the construction of various service centers including markets, restaurants, and housing facilities at its industrial parks in Ethiopia.

The public enterprise, which manages Mekelle, Semera, Bahir-Dar, Kombolcha, Debre Birhan, Dire Dawa, Kilinto, Bole lemi, Adama, Jimma, and Hawassa industrial parks, has already released a tender notice inviting investors to submit proposals for the said project.

According to the tender notice the corporation has availed reserved plots designated for business activities inside the industrial parks.

Agreement for construction of housing units in Hawassa Industrial Park

Reportedly, the Corporation has already inked an agreement with Corner-Stone Housing Development Group to build housing units in Hawassa Industrial Park for its employees.

The agreement was particularly signed by Sandokan Debebe and Sirak Ambaye, the CEO of IPDC and the General Manager of Corner-Stone respectively.

Corner-Stone will thus build a total of 13 building blocks that will have housing units enough to accommodate about 6,500 employees, on an approximately 2.08 hectares piece of land.

Other than the residential units the project also incorporates the construction of dining centers, multi-purpose halls, shopping centers, refreshment centers, banking, training centers, health center, offices, and the development of green areas.

It (the project) is set to be completed in a period of 18 months.
