Plans are underway for an expansion of the Mullen Automotive Tunica facility in Mississippi. The 124,000 square feet facility is currently located on a 100-acre site in Robinsonville, Mississippi. The Electric Vehicle(EV) Manufacturer, Mullen Automotive Inc., intends to expand its current manufacturing space by an additional 1.2 million square feet for the production of class 1 and class 2 EV cargo vans and the Mullen FIVE EV Crossover.
Mullen Automotive Tunica facility to bring jobs
This expansion project is also in line with the EV automaker’s goal of creating 800 jobs and delivering 100,000 vehicles starting from the last quarter of 2023, over a period of five years. On the expanded portion of the Mullen Automotive Tunica facility, the company also has plans of setting up a body shop, a fully automated paint shop and a general assembly shop. According to the vice president of Vehicle Integration and Homologation, Corry Davis, Mullen Automotive will also build a proving ground in addition to the manufacturing facilities, to enhance the on-site static and dynamic vehicle testing capabilities of the facility. He also said, “This will help ensure that Mullen is at the forefront of automotive industry standards for electric vehicles.”

The Director of operations for Mullen’s Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Facility, Trey Agner pointed out that his company was well prepared for the expansion of their Mullen Automotive Tunica facility and he said that they have been in the pre-planning stage for the last couple months, collaborating with some of the top manufacturing companies who are in the forefront of the automotive industry. Anger was also confident that with the help of these companies Mullen Automotive would be successful in delivering manufacturing efficiency with great precision and quality.
The chief economic development officer for the Greater Memphis Chamber, Ted Townsend also spoke in support of developing the Mullen Automotive Tunica facility. He explained the importance of attracting businesses like this from innovative industry sectors, which offer good-paying jobs. Townsend added “We will continue to aggressively seek this type of growth in advanced automotive manufacturing for Memphis and Shelby County.”
