Ferrovial to Develop $355M Solar Facility in Milam County, Texas

Home » Ferrovial Developing 250-MW Solar Project in Texas

Ferrovial, a global leader in infrastructure development, has announced plans to build a new 250 MW solar photovoltaic facility in Milam County, Texas. The project, representing an investment of approximately $355 million (including debt), will be constructed, operated, and maintained by Ferrovial.

The solar plant is designed to strengthen the Texas energy grid by adding to the several solar projects currently in development in Texas and provide long-term economic benefits to the region according to a press release by Ferrovial.

Community and Economic Benefits

According to María José Esteruelas, CEO of Ferrovial Energy, the project highlights how infrastructure investment can deliver tangible community value.
“As data centers multiply and energy needs continue to increase, this facility will bring lasting value to the region by creating jobs, supporting local services, and strengthening energy reliability,” she said.

Construction Timeline and Output

Construction will begin in the coming months, creating around 300 temporary jobs during the build phase. The facility is expected to begin operations in 2027, producing roughly 450 GWh (450,000 MWh) of clean electricity per year—enough to power 43,000 homes.

Expanding Energy Portfolio in Texas

This new development builds on Ferrovial’s growing renewable energy footprint in the state. The company already operates a 257 MWdc solar plant in Leon County and is nearing completion of a 72 MW solar PV facility in the Houston area, developed for client X-Elio.
