Fortuna is pleased to provide an update on the installation of the SAG mill at Séguéla Project located in Côte d’Ivoire. Despite difficulties in the global supply chain, the installation of the SAG mill is a crucial step in the project. Reportedly, all essential parts are currently on site drastically lowering the risk to the project schedule.

Furthermore, Fortuna intends to begin ore processing and mining in the first quarter of 2023. The remaining mining machinery includes a 95-tonne excavator and two 100-tonne haul trucks. As well as a grader, and two tank trucks, is also gradually making their way to the construction site.

Remarks on the SAG mill at Séguéla Project

David Whittle, COO of the company for West Africa, commented, “We are glad to report two key milestones in the building process. With the start of the SAG mill at Séguéla and the energization of the high voltage substation.”

He added, “Most materials and equipment are already on site. And the project is still running on schedule and within budget. With the first gold pour anticipated for mid-2023, attention has now turned to operational readiness. In advance of the commissioning of the processing plant.”

Gold is already being extracted in the sub-region by Fortuna Silver Mines, notably in Burkina with the Yaramoko mine. Additionally, it is aiming to produce more than 100,000 ounces of gold there in 2022. In comparison to an annual production of 130,000 ounces for the first six years of operation of the upcoming Séguéla gold mine.

Furthermore, as of November, around $169m of the $173.5m total approved budget, including a $8.9m contingency, had already been committed. Contracts with a guaranteed maximum price of $87m, fixed price agreements for $15.4m, and bills of quantity and schedules of rates for earthworks totaling $13.7m make up the entire commitment.
